RIW Toughseal is a solvent free, polymer modified, colour coded coating providing an epoxy DPM system. Typically used to provide a water and water vapour proof barrier in areas that require excellent tensile adhesion, chemical resistance and abrasion resistance, such as plant rooms and under raised access floors. RIW Toughseal epoxy DPM system has a Class 1 fire rating and is UV resistant

132 COLD APPLIED DAMP PROOFING TO PLANT ROOMS, STORAGE AREAS, SERVICE AREAS, TOLETS,
SHOWERS AND WET AREAS
Substrate: concrete
Primer: not required
Coating: Ploymer modified epoxide

- Application: stiff brush or medium pile roller. 2 coats, 4m2 per litre
- DFT: 0.5mm after 2 coats

Blinding:
- to provide key for finishes: RIW aggregate Grade 1

Other requirements:
- apply to all bund walls to a minimum 150mm high, or to full height to bund wall

EXECUTION
205 SUITABILITY OF SUBSTRATE
• Substrates generally:
- Smooth, even textured, clean, dry and frost free.
- Within tolerances for level and surface regularity.
- Vertical and horizontal surfaces: Correctly prepared and free from irregularities.
• Curing period for concrete substrates (minimum): 7 days.
• Moisture content and stability of substrate: Must not impair integrity of finished tanking/ damp proofing.
• Preliminary work: Complete including:
- Chases.
- External angles.
- Formation of upstands and kerbs.
- Movement joints.
- Penetrations/ Outlets.
206 ADHESION TESTING
• Tensile bond strength: Test in accordance with BS EN ISO 4624.
• Test results: Submit.
